Unisync Group Limited

Background

In the fall of 2003, Kilmer was presented with the opportunity to acquire one of Canada's leading uniform companies, York Uniforms Limited. Recognizing a roll-up opportunity in the fragmented North American uniform industry, Kilmer acquired York as its initial platform. Subsequent to its acquisition, Kilmer renamed York the Unisync Group to better reflect the multi-brand uniform business strategy about to be implemented through a combination of management's extensive industry knowledge and Kilmer's capital, relationships and expertise in M&A.

Opportunity

Service based companies are increasingly utilizing career apparel programs to define corporate image, reinforce the company's brand and enhance employee retention. The daunting task of managing uniform programs in-house has opened the door for uniform suppliers to design, manufacture and manage the logistics for a specific uniform program.

Within each of its branded divisions, Unisync excels on the basis of two areas of core competency: uniform design and program management. The company's talented in-house design team works closely with customers to design clothing which suits their individual requirements. Garments are then manufactured to specifications and placed into inventory which Unisync then manages to ensure orders are filled and shipped on an expedited basis.

Strategy

Unisync has successfully completed two tuck under acquisitions, Showroom One and J.P. Hammill & Son. Today Unisync serves a multitude of customers in various industries under its three market leading brands York, Hammill and Showroom One. Unisync's future growth will continue to come from a combination of organic initiatives and select acquisitions within the highly fragmented uniform market in both Canada and the United States.
